Often, the problem for people who are thinking about building their first speaker is that there’s no one they can ask how to do it. We won’t leave you on your own – we know that it’s actually very easy. Still, a call or an email is usually much less informative than instructions illustrated with photos
Over the years, the magazine has collected many interesting construction stories, and they are all worth handing over to the reader in “bound” form under the heading of “Workshop experience.” Who can remember where which aspect of box or crossover construction was last demonstrated? Who wants to reread all of the articles just to find the right tip? Thanks to the limitless nature of the internet, we can’t be accused of wasting paper with our repetitions, so we can republish the photo stories here with almost identical commentary and without shame..
But before you start building your box, you should follow the lead of the monster shown at top left, the one with the red ears, white nose and gray pelt, and pick up some appropriate protective gear for your eyes, ears and lungs. And one more thing to remember: whenever you have a fast-running machine in your hands, be sure to keep a firm grip and have your eyes on it at all times! Something that can effortlessly transform wood into dust is not going to be afraid of softer materials, either!
